Effective Groove

Trying to effectively create a music that touches that hidden side of sensibility can be a tricky achievement.
Sometimes is a mix of hard work and focus, other times simply luck. Effective Groove is something in between, although there’s some technical aspect and attention to its creation, the fact is that the sounds that compose this track and its natural harmonics are sheer luck.

Effective Groove starts with an angelic pad that is interrupted by the New York club type beat. The melodie that follows was created using a simple flute sound that although very simple really gives this track some sophisticated groove and helps set the tone for the rest of the track.
Again a very simple music created with a jazz vibe feel that turnout to be better than I expected.

I would like to take this opportunity to wish all a very enjoyable Christmas, being this probably my last entry before the 25th of December.

Hope you find peace and music in your heart and enjoy this day with your family and those you love more.

Merry Christmas from The Halfgame.

Emergency... or not!

Is not every day that we doubt of our own capabilities for solving problems, be more positive, comprehensive and in general a better person…
… In a matter of fact now that I think about it every day I question myself, if I really am that person that I believe to be. Confusing, that’s because it is.

Technically Emergency is not a very impressive production but in my opinion that is its biggest strength.
The simplicity of the beat and the harmonic synthesizer sounds that are included in this track are deliberately repetitive.
I was committed to create a deeper house vibe with a soft touch of sophistication and then break that monotony with a fresher sound.

Retro feels so good

“Feel so Good” is a strange track, on one side there’s a very modern and up to date vibe while in the other end is a pushing force that brings it to a more nostalgic retro groove.

To be honest this result was not intended. I definitely don’t have the talent to make such a conscious production. But the fact is that this accomplishment really made me proud.

This music really brings some memories and the more I listen to “Feel so Good” the more, the buried memories from the past, struggle to make their way out of the cemetery grave.

There was a time when house music was simple, unpretentious and liberating; those were the main reasons why I felt so attracted tor this type of music and why I decided to create my own original work.

“Feel so Good” starts with a clubish, funky grove with a strong bass, simple beat and soft melody. That funky vibe is complemented by an acapella voice that definitely creates that retro feeling and also helps break the track monotony.

Retro Feels so good
In the end “Feel so Good” existence is nothing more than amateur luck. The end result definitely wasn’t intended to be like this, but the fact, is that this track turnout to be a very danceable, original and a enjoyable retro track.

Bad Boy

Bad Boy, my latest production is definitely a more mature track one that reflects the evolution of my knowledge and understanding of the music creation process.

Although simple in its construction the fact is that this track is really effective. Not only it has a very sober and original vibe it also has a very modern and universal grove.

Bad Boy is a deep progressive house music with a jazzy vibe. Those o follow my blog already know how much I love that jazzy vibe, something that has been persistent throughout almost of my tracks.
This music is no exception, and that jazzy vibe really gives this track some personality giving it also a very sophisticated groove.

Similar to my oldest productions I’ve used again a funkier beat, complemented by a repetitive bass and piano riff that serves as the track base.
With soft transitions and some percussion twists, the tracks final touch is a small, also repetitive, trumpet riff that elevates and opens the track giving it a freshness that carries the music trough the middle until the end.

Again a very pleasuring experience winch I share with the world hopping that you enjoy as much as I did.

Hope you enjoy,

Menthol, not the drug!

Menthol is my latest house music production. This track although simple in its construction is by its own merit a very interesting music.

Menthol relies heavily on repetitive harmonic syths, winch are used throughout the entire track and really are the main vibe of the track.

The repetitive grove is complemented by a simple funky bass and a strong beat that sets the rhythm and helps give the music some substance and body.

The music is then embellished by some soothing sounds that are used to contrast with its repetitiveness. The pads and flute instruments used help break the monotony and also gives my personal touch to the music, a kind of jazzy vibe that I so much love.

Hope you enjoy Menthol,

Happy Funky Club Vibe

Abduction and Lemonade are my latest music productions, this two funky house tracks although very similar in their construction and groove, are also different and each with its own unique personality.

These two productions were created in one week and with only one day apart from each other. The inspiration used was for the most part the same, with a happy funky club vibe, ransacked from my old memories of the early 80’s disco fever groove mixed with some French space sounds.

Abduction starts with a funky guitar vibe which sets the tone for the music grove. This guitar riff is then complemented by a very preeminent bass and background disco sound.

The first part of the music has a jazzier vibe to it, in part due to the sax and piano sequence winch gives the music a very interesting vibe.

After the break the space French sounds are introduced. This sounds helps caries the music to a mellower groove without losing its funky vibe.
The music ends in evolving calmness winch resembles to body levitation, as being abducted by aliens from the ground up to their spaceship.

Lemonade like Abduction is also a very funky music. With a persistent groovy bass riff complemented again with some spacey French sounds.
This track is simpler in its construction and also has a more uplifting groove winch is constant across the entire track.

Creating this two tracks was something that gave me genuine pleasure, maybe because of that, they were done in just one week. These productions reflect in fact a state of mind and spirit one I share with all of you through these funky, spacey and 80’s grooved musical pieces.

Hope You enjoy,

Bland Noise pleasantly gentle

“Bland Noise” smoothly touches the small suppressed senses in an agreeable and courteous way. This music has a dull and insipid vibe with a degree of sophistication that in a pleasant manner carries the listener to a state of relaxation.

At the same time this music can be either irritating or stimulating exhibiting no personal worry, embarrassment, or concern. Having little or no distinctive flavor. This track is somehow pleasantly gentle.

I’ve created this music in 2012, don’t remember exactly the date. My first impression when I finished producing
“Bland Noise” was of surprise. The track was, in my opinion, very good and I couldn’t stop listening to her.

But as time went by I’ve started to become annoyed by the sounds that come out of her and before I realize I started do dislike the music.

In August 2013, almost by accident, I stumble in a small group of unfinished music’s and found, lost between them, “Bland Noise”.

Again that “surprise feel” hit me. This music was again pleasant to ear; it was even better, because now I was listening in a very pure a genuine way, as if I was listening for the first time. The small sounds and nuances were now more noticeable as if
“Bland Noise” had been created by a different person entirely.

I wish I could listen to all of my music’s after a memory loss accident so I could purely appreciate and criticize as You can.

Arise in a raining day

Today is raining again, is it me or my temperament somehow controls the weather?

Having nothing better to do I decided to make some music. So with that in mind and with the sound of rain in the background, together with my inspiration I started randomly to construct, with an unwilling desire, the music Arise.

At the beginning I didn’t have a clear idea of what sound was I really searching and honestly I wasn’t too worried about that or with the final result.

It’s not the first time that my boredom diverts me from my goal causing me to disperse and depart from my initial purpose. Most of the times that absent-mindedness is responsible for planting a frustrating sentiment causing me to abandon my unfinished work.

In this case that same frustrating sentiment was responsible for the creation of Arise. As the rainy boredom took hold of my mind I was compelled to experiment and wander through the music samples pasting them in an uncommitted way. Although there’s a random vibe to Arise, I believe that the final product came out pretty good. This track represents a mood a feeling and as I listen to her I almost can hear the rain in the back of my head.

The Blade Runner connection...

In one side we have Blade Runner an 1982 American dystopian science fiction action film directed by Ridley Scott, in the other side we have London an 2013 Portuguese deep house music produced by The Halfgame.
What do they have in common, probably nothing, but I believe this is a cool way to start a post.

Now seriously, London was produced in the first place having in mind a deep house vibe. As the song creation progressed I got stuck without any convincing grove that could enhance the music. The primary theme was there with a deep strong beat a great voice buildup and percussion twist. But then no matter how much I tried no sound seem to fit the mood of the track.

Days passed and I was unable to progress, stubbornly the sounds refused to appear. I was very disappointed with my lack of inspiration moreover because I knew this music had an awesome vibe and just needed one more sound to unlock the complete grove.

After some frustrating attempts and when I was almost ready to give up on my unsuccessful masterpiece, something interesting happened. Almost by accident and in a desperate effort I stumble on a sound that fused automatically and teleported the music to an all new level.

Now here is where the Blade Runner reference enters. This sound gave this track that spacey, cyber-punk vibe reminiscent of the 1982 American dystopian science fiction action film directed by Ridley Scott. This retro vibe really complemented the music in perfection giving it a very original vibe. Finally I was able to complete the track and share it with the world.

And you know what? Blade Runner is one of my favorite movies of all time.

House music with a twist...

“Spring Love”, my most recent production, is a simple house music with a twist. This track begins with a very simple four tempo beat that is complemented with a soft afro vibe.
As the music progresses and new sounds are added to the mix it becomes clear that this is a very difficult track to fit into a specific genre or style of dance music.

This clubish house music gains its strenght on the mix of synth sounds that varies from french house sintesyzers to a more american house vibe loops.
This mixtures of styles give this music a very unique groove that sets it appart from any other track that I’ve produced so far. I dont know if it is the slow tempo of the synth loops or the lack of the jazzy vibes that are a trademarks for most of my productions.

Your opinion is very important to me and I would like very much for you to leave your comments and thoughts about my work. Please feel free to post them, all will be welcome.

For now I’ll leave you with my last prodiction hopping that you enjoy.

Cheers,

Deep Down memory lane

“Deep Down” is my latest production. This progressive tech House music relies on strong beats and deep house synths. Originally this music had a very strong distorted bass sound, but as the track progressed I had to remove it. There was some kind of displacement on that sample that didn’t really fit the groove.

After that the music was totally redone and then it became what it is now.
There’s also a 80´s vibe deep buried inside that wasn’t intentional but turn out to be very surprising and gave this track some kind of unique vibe.

There’s a long break in the music that was used to reduce the monotony of the track. In that break you can hear a French voice sample that reinforces that deep house vibe. That´s a very impressive voice sample that I wanted to include in this track no matter what.

This track was produced using as inspiration some of the late 90’s tech house and deep house tracks that were very popular in those days. I really enjoyed producing this music and revisiting some of those wonderful memories. I even included, just for fun, a small sound sample from one of my favorite late 90's records. See if you can discover what it is.

The Walking Man

"The Walking Man" was my first ever music production. This progressive deep house track was completed in 17 December 2011.

I’ve decided only now to post it because I believe that this track really has an innocent and at the same time mysterious vibe.

Simplicity complemented by some very unique and strong samples is some of this track trademarks.

Hope You enjoy.

Last from 2012

This will is my last production of 2012. Goodbye to the old and welcome the new.
This chillout music was intended to be an experiment but a as time went along I've discovered that there was more to it.
This track turnout to be very emotional and cinematic and instantly became one of my favorites.

Hope You enjoy.
